create a web page based on a set of criteria

Does Actinic offer an option to create a web page based on a set of criteria.

i.e. this page to include - all timber sheds.
another page to include - all sheds over £300
another page to include - all shed with no windows
    etc.

Some of the products would appear in more than one page.

see attached image of an example.

    Thanks.

Certainly possible in v8 onwards, but a pretty advanced task to do, you'd need an actinic developer with considerable experience. Not such a difficult task if only required on sheds, main concern would be grinding actinic to a halt through the shear processing required, number of products being key.

In simple terms you could have variables filled out against each product and then use those measures to filter the entire product list to create the required pages.

You might find using advanced search is a cheaper exercise and one you could do yourself, the help is very good in that area.

Thanks Lee. I would have probably about up to 1000 different products. Can you point me in the direction where I could find a developer to get an idea on costs and feasibility?

The actinic site lists designers with a developer subscription, try that first. I'd estimate 1-2 days dependent on the scope of what you want, so anything between £100-600 as a guess.

If the 1000 products are all sheds, the the following will not really be applicable, if not, then you could do most of this yourself manually by duplicating products into respective sections.

For each of the links in your mockup, create a section for it and duplicate the relevant products into that section, so when you add a new product, add it to the main section and then duplicate it into the other sections where it qualifies. Your interface is then a simple set of links that link off to the pages you have created.

That gives you considerable manual work to do (the duplication) but it does get you away from needing development and gives you 100% control over the function using just basic actinic options.

Thanks Lee, that would be a solution. However, finding time can be a problem and if I could automate this it would be an ideal solution. Depending on the cost this would be a trade off against the amount of time I would need to spend when I could be selling sheds and making money that way.

I did look on the main Actinic site for developer but it is hard to know who could do this sort of work. I might put a post on this forum board later today asking for a developer to contact me if they feel they could do this sort of work.

Thanks again for your speedy advice.
