Shipping error when adding to an online order, offline.

    Hello guys,

I've had this problem in the past and not 100% that it hasn't already been mentioned on here.

If it has, I'm struggling to find the thread, so forgive me for duplication and point me in the right direction.

    Problem

Okay, customer places order online. We then add items to his order offline, give him a bit of a discount and adjust the shipping costs.

Now, the order exceeds our shipping bands, but we are able to complete the order. However, the order can no longer be opened within Actinic.

A "Shipping Error" box pops up, you click okay and Actinic shuts down.

    Solution

I'd hoped to open up the database, amend the shipping class. This however doesn't solve the problem. The shipping field is populated, but I get the same error window and Actinic shuts down.

I'm going to do some more investigation, altering the weights perhaps, but if you have any ideas please post them below.

    Thanks,

    Rich

Now, the order exceeds our shipping bands,
I can only think that this might be the problem. I wonder if you have Actnic set to not allow an order that exceeds the shipping tables (or indeed sets the maximum price band).

Could this be fixed by setting up your shipping tables so that you're never going to exceed them?

Edit: This must be the thread you were thinking of. http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=40760

There's a workaround. To go into the Settings > BUsiness Settings > Shipping and Handling and UNcheck the 'do not allow excess', changing it to something else while you process the order (and changing it back again after)
Oops, I missed the following paragraph:

While this does fix the problem (although not for an order already placed and crashing the system),

I was about to post that I have the same problem, then I realised that's my thread that Mike linked to

      It still happens
It still sucks when it does!

We really need to be able to have different shipping rules (excesses and top level caps etc) for offline orders,to fix the problem

I stand by my previous quote

It's reasonable to expect limits on the online ordering side that can be overridden when processing an offline order though.
It's no different to quoting a special rate for shipping or taking special orders etc
I usually forget to apply the "allow excess" fix before I edit the order and usually end up borking an order

      What can ya do, eh?

Thanks for the responses and I'm sorry I've been quiet (I was laying by a pool in Tenerife all last week).

Support have requested a snapshot, so we'll see what that brings.

No, but lack of effort from my end I'm afraid.

            Sorry

no worries. Support had asked me for a snapshot when I was unable to send one (was out of the country. My country, that is LOL) and I just came across the email and wondered if it was ongoing (or, ever hopeful, FIXED! )

Do you want to me enquire if support still want a snapshot?
