I want to delete « Completed » orders !

If I mark « Delete » all of my « Completed Orders » and purge them, will it affect my stock level for each of my products (books) ?
If it does (as it seems to do in my test), how can I delete those orders without affecting my stock level. Closing « Automatic stock Monitoring » before purging and reactivate it after ?
Any suggestions ?

I don't understand why completed orders should affect current stock, I wouldn't expect this to happen.

What I want you to confirm is this :
When an order is completed (packing list + invoice printed, every product of the order mark shipped, payment received), I can simply delete it. No modification will be made to the stock level.
