    Compontents & out of stock.

We have just started a new site and all our products have a component attached to them which contains sizes. eg. a main Tshirt product with the sizes below it.

When we link to an external file to update the stock levels the "out of stock" message isnt working for us despite the "estimated stock in hand" being 0 or below the suspended level.

anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks.

Automatic Stock Synchronisation cannot be used if your catalogue is linked to an external database or spreadsheet. If you wish to use Online Stock Control with External Linking, you should disable Automatic Stock Synchronisation, and Publish to Web on a regular basis to synchronise stock between the web site and the desktop.

Hi, thanks for the reply, we are not trying to use this as an on-line stock control, we normally connect to the external database to update stock levels. and then upload the site regularly.

We have also tried this feature when not connecting to the database and manually adjusting stock levels but still nothing. We manage to set a the size that is out of stock disappear from the drop down menu, but when all items are out of stock the "out of stock" message doesnt appear and the cart button remains.

Are there some settings we need to enable to allow this feature to work with components?

      Thanks.

You should set up the old style stock monitoring not the new Real Time Stock control to achieve your aims, but not sure if that works with items in drop downs, generally stock is related to products, so if you are using permutations to achieve the drop downs it might work but the button is going to be controlled by the stock level of the basic product not by the permutations.

I assume you do not have any stock attached to the product itself, so you probably need to modify the javascript to achieve your aims.

Hi, I dont believe we are trying to use real time stock monitoring, how do you use the old style?

we have no stock attached to the main product, as far as I can tell we have set-up our products as is described in the user guide but it simply doesn't work with the permutations, im sure ive read that it is supposed to work.

We have 2 other sites which use the method we are trying to use and work fine, although this was done by a previous member of staff and as such as don't know how and if there is custom code being used.

          Thanks.
