Actinic Closes During Upload (Windows 7)

    Hi

I have just purchased a new laptop with windows 7. I have installed Actinic 8 and imported my site. When I try and upload, Actinic simply closes. There is no error message. I have tried Purge, Compact Database, Run as Administrator, Disable Firewall but the problem is still present. Has anyone got an ideas? Thanks in advance for your time.

Try disabling Windows 7 indexing as per here.

Thanks Norman, unfortunately this has not worked. I have excluded the site folder from indexing, restarted the computer and then tried uploading. However, I have the same problem of Actinic simply closing during upload.

Which version of v8 are you using?

Ah, I sort of hoped, in a good way, that you were using an earlier version - because early v8 is not compatible with Windows 7.
Do you have any back up software running? This can have the same interrupting effect as Windows Search.
When you installed Actinic, did you run it as an administrator? Also, is UAC control turned off?
What about firewalls and antivirus - have you tried an upload with these temporarily disabled?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled as Run As Administrator.
              Firewall is switched off
              I have unistalled antivirus
Back up software is not running
              UAC is off

              Still no luck!

The laptop of 64bit. I wonder if this is linked.

I run a 64 bit desktop with Windows 7. Don't have any problems.

One more thought - why not download v9 as a standalone version, import your network settings from v8, and upload in test mode?

Other than that, if no-one else has any bright ideas for you to try, your next step is to contact support.

I have W7 and 64 bit system and have problems too. I've emailed Bruce with some screenshots and info. They're struggling to reproduce their end, but enough of us are struggling so something is happening. Version of windows 7 is my stab in the dark.

Mine's Home Premium - if that helps at all.

Even if Actinic fixes the problem I doubt they will amend V8. My only option is to run Actinic on an old machine which defeats the objective of buying a new laptop to replace my recently failed Vista/32bit machine!

If you have W7 Pro or Ulitimate you can try runnning Actinic in the XP Virtual Machine

                          As a note - I have windows 7 pro 32 bit with v7, 8, 9 & 10 without any problems. Even with UAC on.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, 8GB ram, quad core for me. We've already given them this info though on the Windows 7 thread.

My machine has Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have tried right clicking on the Actinic icon and setting the Properties>Compatibility to Windows XP but still no success.

I feel anxious at shelling our more money for Windows Pro without being sure is will solve the problem.
