    Removing GA from the website?

Is there any easy way to remove ALL of the GA information from our website?

I need to strip everything out and start a fresh because unfortunately for what ever reason last year when we had a partial re-design the tracking went AWOL and the stats are not correct. Despite much frustration and staring at the screen we haven't been able to rectify the problem.

So, I just need to start a fresh.

I was thinking Design |Library | Layout | Google Analytics Markup

And deleting everything from there. Will that do the trick? And will I need to re-activate the current account?

Sorry for all the questions but this has been a problem since this time last year and we've still not got a solution.

    Thanks

What happens if you go to the Marketing tab, click Google Analytics and uncheck the "Enable Google Analytics" box?

It's still all in there, even un-ticking that box.

I just need to strip it all out and start a new GA account.

In that case you need to remove the Google Analytics Tracking Code from your outer layout by going to Design View, selecting Content Page in the dropdown list, highlighting the pink Google Analytics Tracking Code and hitting Delete.
Best not to delete it from the Library as you will want to reinstate it at some point, yes?

          Yes, that's right.

Once that's deleted I can go ahead and paste the new one in?

Or, just set up a new account in Google and change the account number in the marketing tab?

Why don't you try changing the account number to the new one first, before you start removing any code?

I tried adding a new profile for the same website and it wasn't having any of it

When I add a new profile for the same website it gives me the same account number as the old one?

Unless I am doing it wrong (which I probably am!)

By the way, I'd remove that attachment as it's got your GA code in it for all to see.

It's gone now. OK, so adding the new account number in marketing is a BIG no go. I just added it and it fudged up the whole website layout!

not sure what you're doing. I just tested this and it was simples.

Click add new profile next to where your existing profile is listed, make sure "Add a profile for an existing domain" is highlighted, give it a name and there it is.

At the bottom of the main Analytics page, make sure you are not on Pg 1 and the new profile isn't hiding on a page 2.

What happens if you put the new account number directly into the Pink code you showed in the attachment (now removed)?

It's OK, I hadn't unchecked a box. It's been one of those days where I am rushing and not 'looking'. Sorry to be a pain

It's given me a new account number which is 1 digit different to the old. Uploading the site now..... wish me luck

It's working now. Sorry, I should be calmer and not 'rush' doing things!

I assume the old account will no longer be tracking?
