    error.err file is not working

while investigating another issue, I realised that the error.err file has not been updating. I have tried Help>Troubleshooting>Remove Error Log, but get this error message: -

The web script was unable to delete the specified file from the web site because
    the file's permissions are locked....

    error.err permissions are: -

    rw-r--r-- users apache

Does this look correct? Other file have the user as my FTP username.

Any help to get the error file logging errors again would be much appreciated.

Thanks Ben, I'll have to get my hosting company to change the permissions for me Monday. I would have thought I would be the owner of this file, do you know if it is correct for the owner to be apache - this means I can't change the permissions myself.

      Thanks again for your help.

I can CHMOD my error file so I assume that you should too, but I'm no expert. I have a dedicated server if this makes any difference- perhaps if you have shared hosting there may be more restrictions? Only guessing though- there are far more experienced people than me on here who may be able to help...
