Free Gift Item

I've been asked to set up a promotion along the lines of 'Spend X and get Product Y Free'.

I can see how to do this based on product groups, but I need to set this up across the whole product catalogue - not just in one group.

Now the details....

The site has a few hundred different product groups (for existing mix & match discounting) and I need to set an additional promotion that will give a free gift if the customer spends over, say, £20 even if it’s 20 different £1 items from 20 product groups.

Would anyone know if this is possible?

I'm using 9.04 Business.

Have a look at the free gift wrap thread, see if you can use something along those lines, only way i can think you can do this.
