    Options within Options

    Hi there,

Could someone please explain to me how to do the following:

A customer wants to pay for their course. They must choose EITHER
    1. Pay in full
    2. Pay deposit and balance
    3. Pay deposit and installments

    Then
    1. Will default to the single payment
    2. Will give options of deposit or balance
    3. Will give options of deposit or installment 1 or installment 2

The best I've done is this but they can choose to do nothing at all, or pay several different types of payment!

I just need to know the right combination of components, attributes, choices etc and it's been driving me mad!

    Thanks for any help.
    Kind regards,
    Phil Benjamin

I'd have thought one component with a set of permutations was what you needed, not independent lists. If you add multiple lists, you invite multiple mistakes, one list either a drop down list or radio buttons and they can only select one option then. Will look far simpler then too.

      I've tried, honest

      Hi Lee,

      Thanks for that.

I tried putting my entries in a grid, generating it using the 'Add a new option' button as this seemed to be how to use permutations as you suggested.

I created three Options (Full payment, deposit and balance, installments) and under each option I created the necessary choices.

This created what you see here (ignore the formatting etc, this is a test product)

The problem I now have is that I want only one of the top level choices to be filled out. For example, if they select 'Pay in installments' then there should be no choice in 'Pay in full' or 'Pay a deposit'.

This seems like a simple nesting of choices, but I don't see how to do it here. I don't seem to be able to add a component to a component, which would probably be the right way to do it.
      Kind regards,
      Phil Benjamin

You can't do 3 separate lists, it needs to be just one as i mentioned.

          Confused then

          Hi Lee,

If I do just one list, then that list has to have one 'Option' with three 'Choices'. The choices are:
          Full payment
          Deposit and balance
          Installments

I need help with understanding how to get in the choices below 'Deposit and Balance' and 'Installments'.
          Kind regards,
          Phil Benjamin

You can't get what you want, merge all 3 lists into one and have the name of those options clearly marking what they are. I'd argue that's a better solution than what you are wanting anyway. This list contains all options, they read down and choose the right one, much like choosing a colour or size on a product.

              Thank you

              Ah, I see.

              Okay then, I'll do that.

              Thanks for the advice.
