Hello again! As posted I got my database linking correctly, I've managed to use a table in my database to import all of my products into actinic with their references, names and prices and this all works beautifully!

However, now that I 'cleverly' saved all of my product picture names as the product references and used excel to generate a column to fill in the Image Filename fields it will not insert the values in this column into actinic.

I can confirm that the values for the Image Filenames are all correct and do not contain any disallowed characters, i've pasted the fields into actinic and they've all been correct.

The datatype for the column is set to text and on the external links window the fields map and no errors pop up when actinic is processing the links.

After everything seems to have happened successfully all the items that are linked have the Image Filename boxes empty.

Any thoughts as to why this might be happening? I can rule out any problems with the data being imported, I was wondering if there was a setting at section level that would be interfering with the filename import?

I thought there might be some sort of other value that needed defining at product or section level in order for the Image Filenames to import properly (or at all?).

EDIT: I just tried duplicating the column and mapping that instead since these bizarre fix seems to work alot, alas nothing! Please help!

    Thanks, Rob

I can't think of anything else you need to define, seems like a formatting issue. Try a file > export from within actinic and see if the formatting on that cell is any different, you might need to switch to general on that column instead of text, certainly seems to be a few of these formatting and linking problems cropping up of late.

Ok, please note to anyone else attempting this to make sure that 'use external data' is checked on the products you want linked! Thanks Lee, Its been a long day...
