    Actinic Link

We are using v9 and QuickBooks at the moment via Actinic Link.

We are considering jumping ship from QB over to Sage (for the same reasons that have been discussed many times on these pages already)

I am now trying to understand how the Actinic Link for Sage operates.
Is it a two way data transfer?
(A/L for QB was only 1 one way transfer from Actinic to QB)
What sort of data can be transfered between Sage and Actinic using Actinic Link?

Can product descriptions, prices and quantities all be modified in Sage and then syncronised across to Actinic or is the link not that clever?

Your help, comments and experiences would be appreciated.

We use the Link in the following way

    1. Sage to Actinic Link to transfer Product Description, Prices (Retail & various customer groups) and stock levels (I believe you can also set up special web fields in Sage and map them to actinic).

    2. Sage to Actinic Link to transfer stock levels only.

With both of the above we use a product reference translation table to transfer selected products (4000+ products in Sage - 1000 on the website).

    3. Actinic to Sage Link to transfer orders (we dont do any order processing in Actinic)

Its a bit of a pig to set up, but works nicely once operational.

The "Actinic Link Getting Started Guide" from the user guides section of the download centre has more info

I've had a look in the guide.
Am I also right in thinking that I can also create new products in Actinic directly from the data that has been entered in the Sage stock feature?

I have read the following blurb about Actinic Link for Sage on the Actinic site

Reads Sage field descriptions ‘Web Description’, ‘Web Image’ and ‘Web Category’ to give control over how products appear online.

At present I'm not a Sage user, but what does this mean? Are there seperate fields within Sage for website product descriptions and scope to store the website images for each of the Actinic site products?

Is it also possible to transfer over other stock related data like manufacturer name and manufacturer part number etc into Actinic too? We presently display this information on our site but manually key it all in

You can create new products in Actinic from sage and the web fields work as you describe.

I believe you can set up the Actinic section structure in Sage as well.

I'm not sure about custom fields as we don't use them.
