Stopping choices exporting randomly

I'm having a bit of a problem at the moment. I need to export a site, mess about with it and then re-import it again, but when I do this I find that on the export most of the choices in one of the sections are exported in what looks to be a random order. So sizes for example are exported like this:

Attribute Size !!<Size>!! 0 0 Standard
Choice X Large !!<X Large>!! 0 Standard
Choice Small !!<Small>!! 0 Standard
Choice Large !!<Large>!! 0 Standard
Choice Medium !!<Medium>!! 0 Standard
Choice Select !!<Select>!! 0 Standard

Instead of:

Attribute Size !!<Size>!! 0 0 Standard
Choice Select !!<Select>!! 0 Standard
Choice Small !!<Small>!! 0 Standard
Choice Medium !!<Medium>!! 0 Standard
Choice Large !!<Large>!! 0 Standard
Choice X Large !!<X Large>!! 0 Standard

I can't really find anything on this, has anyone come across it before?

no, thats right, its a bug.. major major bummer.
apart from spending days manually editing the file to get the choices back in the right order there doesnt seem to be a solution.
