    Direct URLs to products online?

    Can anyone tell me how to get a direct URL to a product?

    Used to be able to do this relatively easily in v5 but now in V9 the search script generates an url miles long eg:

    http://shop.memory-map.co.uk/cgi-bin...d3500_2dF_2dUP

    Have tried to guess, based on what old actinic used to do but not getting anywhere. Also the product link exported in the Google Shopping feed only takes you to the category page, not direct to the product itself which isn't ideal if a customer has to scroll about looking for the right product.

    Cheers

    Just use an 'a name' tag like this;

    http://shop.memory-map.co.uk/acatalo...ml#aTP_2dA6PAD

    The URL is the URL of the page the item is on, followed by '#a' and then the product code...

    shop.memory-map.co.uk/acatalog/toughprint-waterproof-paper.html#aTP_2dA6PAD

    Thats how I do it anyway.

      IIRC google feeds have to go directly to the product with only one product per page. As I understand it, Google's definition of 'one product' means you can only have one buy button on the page.

        that is indeed their 'rule' but it isnt enforced (at the moment)
        I worried about this, as I dont use 'one product per page' but I submitted my store anyway, and despite it having many products and many 'add to cart' buttons per page, and my product URLs only pointing to the page and not the individual products, my feed still uploads and is accepted and has done for the past 2 or 3 years.

          Well Friday 13th is not being kind to me! I swear I tried duplicating the direct product urls as per feemish's reply. Didn't work earlier, does now so thanks for that!

          Google product feed does concern me a lot - do not fancy having to create extended info links for every product just so they all have a single page. At least they don't enforce at the moment but may persevere with the direct URLs and see if google accepts them. Would be fab if this sort of data could be exported, if only so I can create shorturls for products for promo and newsletters rather than creating a duplicate product on its own category!

          Oh well... happy national doughnut day!
