Limit Order Qty to match Stock Qty

Is it possible to automatically limit the max order qty of a product to match the estimated stock qty?
I know I can do this manually, each time an order is placed then have to re-upload the entire website again, but as this must be an extremely common request I thought there must be a way around this.

I also have Actinic V9 incase, and am willing to swap over to this if the option is only available in later versions

Online stock control only arrived in v10.
The only way you can do this is to download and upload regularly.
