Tax report - what is pro-rata?

A line has appeared on the tax report that doesn't seem to have been there before - Pro-Rata. It has negative amounts in it.

I have been told about this by the accountant and can't see it when I run the report on the development test data.

Did he dream it or does this pop up under certain circumstances?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Different vat rates on different products would cause pro rata delivery charges for example. You'd not charge 20% vat on delivery of a product that was only 5% vat rated, similar idea on vat free products.

We only have one rate of VAT - 20%, which applies to all products.

Non-UK customers don't pay VAT however. Would this account for it?

Pro rata tax is often the default rate offered when you add an adjustment to an order, could that be what has happened?

Sometimes backorders can have it as well, so if you have any of those, check it.

You should see it on your reports though, so check the dates you are using when you run them, it might be that the offending order(s) is outside of the date range you have for the report.

            Could it be coupons?

            Thanks Jan.

We don't have backorders. I don't have anything to do with the actual orders but I'll ask if they have made any adjustments. They do a lot of offline orders so that might be where it is happening.

Just one further thought - might coupons be responsible?
