    Snapshot errors

I keep getting a series of errors when I create a snapshot. They are of all the same format but just reference different products.

An example of the error is
(File ExportFiles.cpp, Line 456) - The file D:\Actinic v9\Sites\Site1\Images\Products\944\944 Fuel\Porsche_911_ 944_924S_928_fuel_filter.jpg was not found System error 3 - The system cannot find the path specified.

I keep checking that the files in question exist and they do and they are always present in the location where the error message is saying it can't be found.

I just added a load of products to the site this week and they are now also being referenced in the same way in the error messages.

Does anybody have a step by step cure for this?

Oh and BTW, I'm using version 9 !

Is the image showing in the preview window when you have that product selected. If not, despite what you say, it is not where you say it is OR there is a problem with the image file itself. Try recreating it, use a different name and try adding it to the product again.

90% chance it's not where you say it is
10% chance there's a problem with the actual file (name is too long for example or format is somehow corrupted)
0% chance it's an actinic problem

Were these manually setup products or set up via an import? If via an import the 90% above becomes 99.99%.

Products were set up manually and are visible when previewed and uploaded.

That suggests to me that your percentage values are quite correct.......

This may be related to the very long path to the file.
D:\Actinic v9\Sites\Site1\Images\Products\944\944 Fuel\Porsche_911_ 944_924S_928_fuel_filter.jpg for example is a lot of characters for combined path and filename.

Have you started naming your images differently (longer and more descriptively) for SEO recently?

          Nothiing has changed recently Duncan.
I;ve always had these errors appearing. I uploaded a few new products at the beginning of last week and immediately had the errors during snapshot creation which reminded me again to get to the bottom of what is causing this.
Are you suggesting that it is file name length and path that could be the issue?

This may help - we sometimes get snapshot errors, but the site looks, uploads and functions 100% correctly.
We've found that by making a hierarchical export of the site and immediately re-importing it, some errors are highlighted in the errors.txt file on import.
It's a bit odd, but at least it helps to pinpoint the fault.
Caution - if your snapshot fails and then the import also fails with some errors, you will be left with a site that is not it's latest iteration and will have no choice but to fall back on your previous working snapshot, so make sure you can track all the changes from your last snapshot and re-implement them.
Of course, you have a regimented time-sorted list of all the changes you make to your site as you make them
            Kind Regards
