    serious issue - missing orders

Hello hoping someone here will help save my girlfirends life lol

She moved the actinic folder from my documents to a backup folder (thinking she was helping) She done this on the 19th Jan and continued to download orders and use actinic etc. It looks like actinic automatically created a new actinic v9 folder for her.

Yesterday i went in to her work as she said she couldnt take a backup. she couldnt take a backup as the site was not activated. We put in the activation key and it reset the whole site back to default and lost all the products. there were various design errors and it was a total mess. Actinic would not talk to me on the phone as we only have the payment gateway support.

I restored the whole site back to the snapshot taken on the 19th and got the site up and running and taking backups again.

now here's the thing....all the orders downloaded between the 19th Jan and the 1st feb are missing!!! is there a way to get them back or to enter them into a file/database manually?

    Please help

    many thanks

    Paul

Short anwser is no - but you could swap sites by taking a current snasphot then inporting the one with the orders -printing your orders - then importing your current snapshot back again.

we have hard copies of the orders as we alway print them, so that isnt the issue as such, but we like to compare year vs year, order details etc and it's hard to do with a chunk missing. It will mean a manual process every year for that period.

i was hoping we could just enter them back into some form of database or "pull" them down somehow

You can manually enter them as a new order if there are not to many so you have the record of them but just with a new order number

          Hi Chris

          that would be perfect!!

we use Actinic payments so is there a way of putting an order on with the correct price etc but not recharging the customer again? then it would have the correct details (except order number which we can live with)

          Thanks for the replies

You could use another payment method for the manually entered ones - perhaps chq with order or similar.

              thanks guys

it only gives me the option of actinic payments so i guess i would need to add cheque as a payment method first.

this is fantastic if it works!!! i'll try it this weekend!!

thank you so much, fingers crossed!!!

                It looks like it's working!!!

ok all the orders entered have todays date and a differrent order number but at least we have a record of them on the system.

                It's a fudge - but i'm happy with it

thank you both for your help on this! very kind of you

                best regards

                  Hi Paul

We had an issue with our internet a few years ago that cuased this problem and did exactly what you are doing. For ease of tracking etc in the future I'd put the corresponding order number and auth code and order date in the journal so if you ever have to trace the payment etc you have a record of it. Also if you create their own payment type you can easily find them as well
