I have an old actinic site V8.5 that I would like to use to sell tickets for a charity event. It doesn't seem to be able to take paypal payments which seems to be something to do with new security protocols. Can it be made to work?

Yep, that's right. Sellerdeck versions earlier than V11 no longer work with paypal or other payment processors. This was due to a several changes in the technical standards for payment processing. There is no practical workaround.-----------------------------------------
