    Hard drive failure

    Hi all

We appear to have a HD failure where Actinic V8 was installed.

We are not far away from a completely new web site, so I was wondering.....
Can we install Actinic on another PC and, with the network settings installed, download orders without adding any content or customisation to Actinic?
ATM, we are still retrieving payment details from the site to process manually. Otherwise we would have all the information we need from the notification e-mails.

We are about to plug the old hard drive in elsewhere to see what we can salvage. But thought I'd pose the question.

You will need a snapshot of the site to download orders as the security key also needs to match.
You could install the same specific version of Actinic on the other machine, then import your latest snapshot and you'd be back in business. I presume you have a snapshot?

Many thanks for the speedy reply. We'll do the job properly as you suggest :-)

We have this version on CD, so I've already installed it.

Your live site is using version 8.5.2.0.0.0 HMVA so that's what you should be installing.

If your old disk is readable, then installing a Snapshot (even an old one) of the site and then copying the entire Site1 contents from the dodgy disk into the same place on the new PC should get you back to where you were.

Thanks very much. We had established the version and downloaded the relevant one from the Actinic site. Having upgraded the installed version and imported the snapshot, we are now able to retrieve outstanding orders from the server.

          I can breath again now!!

We are now seeing what we can extract from the old HD in terms of up to date content. The snapshot isn't up to date with this so we will just have to avoid uploading until this is sorted out.

Moral of the story..... back up to a different place!!

Once again, many thanks for your valuable advice and help.
