Product copy and paste weirdness between Swift sites

Is anyone having issues with copying and pasting products between two sites with different designs but both based on Swift?

Customer is getting variables dropping out in the copy/paste so although for example Zoom image Control variables are identical in both sites, but variables are becoming empty and site variables are appearing in product details on being pasted.

Support pointed out that both sites have a second User Define Properties table with a Temp suffix. What is the purpose of temp folders? How do they get created? Can they be deleted? Do they cause issues as support suggest? Thank you!

I've not come across temp tables before. Personally I'd use Access to rename the temp table, then do some more copying and pasting and see if anything bad happens or if the temp table recreates itself.

Good plan John - Thank you.

Any idea why the temp would appear, sudden shutdown of pc maybe??????

I don't think the Access runtime ever creates temp tables. I assume it has either been created by the Sellerdeck application, or manually by a human at some point in the past (e.g. somebody might have renamed/copied the table to see if anything bad happened )

In fact renaming/deleting the 'User Defined Properties_Temp' table did not make a difference to the issue.

Looks like that was a red herring. User-defined properties may not be implicated at all - it may just be a bug. TBH I hadn't realised copying and pasting between sites was possible.

"Show Source File Name" is in Design Library of both the client sites and the problem occurs copying from one to the other or back again:

I have run database compare with my donor site and with Version Ed andf there are pages of table differences. I suspect it is a table oddity that came over with the client's orignal databases? I can post these if you think it is useful? Sadly I do not understand them!

                      From Hugh

Do the variables have the same ID? Comparison is done by ID rather than name, which is why the hierarchical export/import is more reliable.

                      • The ones that paste empty values have different nIDs - does tha explain things?

Yes, those would not come across properly
                      Thank you Hugh
