how do i remove shop and log in from nav bar?

I have a navigation bar with my brochure pages automatically put in. However I still have "shop" and "log-in". Can I get rid of these? if so how?

If I can get rid of them, where will they point to? If I'm stuck with them I'd rather at least give shop a different name.

    Thanks

I had a similar problem .. I wanted a different set of buttons on my brochure pages, and didn't need the log-in button at all.

there's a few things I discovered (and a few kind folks lent a hand here .. which was a real help) .. firstly, the shop button can be changed in design>options>brochure .. you can change the image there .. so the button and it's rollover can be what you decide...

If you don't want it at all, there is another thing I found which gives you this option .. but are you sure you don't want people to access your online store from your brochure part .. (just a point, after all you know what you are doing)? check out the advanced user guide, page 14 ... 'inserting individual buttons'. I used this and inserted a completely different set of buttons I wanted in the navigation of the brochure part. There may well be another way (I am a beginner here) but it works just fine (see my test site www.cadeauxplus.com if you like) It was a little bit of a game, but once I could see the logic, it was easy to get it to work.

log in button can be omitted by selecting

'View | Business Settings | Ordering' and de-select 'Allow Orders From Customer Accounts'

that was courtesy of Chris Dickens .. and it worked - like magic

there are far more expert folks around here than me (and there may be different methods of achieving some of this) .. but I followed all this and got the brochure to look just as I needed it.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your help. I kept seeing people mentioning the advanced user guide but I didn't see it on the website, but having a second look now its further down the list! Just 3 pages into reading, I have already answered a host of other questions I had! Thanks very much.

I'm not sure about the shop link. My problem is that the person who designed the site didn't really think about Actinic when they designed it, so I'm trying to keep the design as it is, and it doesn't have a shop link in the brochure page, but it does have a menu of all the categories on the left. I'm yet to figure out how to put this menu in

PS, I like your site. I've been looking at lots of examples and all are so different, so I think Actinic is a lot more configurable than you first realise when starting out.

yep .. very flexible .. and this community is a God-send for folks like me who (personally speaking) are quite happy with the design & look-feel bit, but are only just venturing into actually building ecommerce sites.

It's not perfect, and some things which one would think should be simple to do don't seem so easy. But when you've got your head around it a bit .. it does actually start to make a bit of sense.

For me, its like designing with boxing gloves on .. but I am getting better at it .. and will persist (after buying developer version .. I kinda have to !)
