Creating standard components as part of a template

    Hi all,

We've got a lot of add-ons that we would like to offer as standard options with every product within a few different sections of our website.

Is it easy enough to add a 'default component' to our own standard template?
(rather than copy and pasting them say 100 times - which would then be a pain to update if we ever had to change anything!)

I would use components linked to products, but am I correct in thinking that you cannot *automatically* display the price as part of the HTML display? (e.g., we want it to say: Tick box to add wrapping @ £2.00)

If it helps, we need (at least) 2 check-boxes with each product, offering 2 different upgrades. The price of these remain constant throughout.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers!

    Cheers!

You would need to copy and paste the component for each product I'm afraid. You can associate a hidden product with each choice in order to have a central point to update the prices, but I can see from...

... that you have realised that you cannot display the choice prices automatically in the HTML.

      So what to do then?

There are some things you cannot compromise on - in that you must have a separate component for each product. You can, however, link each choice to a different hidden product in order to change the price centrally.

If you are familiar with Access 2000 you can open the 'ProductProperties' table in 'ActinicCatalog.mdb' and do a find and replace to edit all the choice labels in one go.
