    NorTree menu speed

    Hi,
My menu is very slow, I have about 2000+ products and curently the menu passes through the CGI.

Would it speed up by having less depth ie only 2 levels on the menu?
also how do I configure it to link with out passing through the CGI bin, would this speed things up?

The menus works ok it's the speed from clicking a link to the page clicking through about 20 seconds of doing nothing.

    any ideas...

    Thanks.

I don't think so. the cgi scripts would still take as long and the sectiontree files would still be the same size.

Yes. But only do this if you don't use customer accounts (Actinic Business feature). Here's the bit from the readme:-

If set to the URL of your catalog directory ( e.g. http://www.mysite.com/acatalog/ ) - don't forget that trailing "/" - then NorTree will generate static links to your pages.
This should considerably speed up page load / reload times.
If you leave this field blank then the Actinic generated URL's (which go through the SearchScript.pl cgi-bin routine) will be used.

For those who want to do the same the URL goes into the LinkPrefix field.
