Search facility - Highlighted Text

Hi there,

I would like to be able to change which text is highlighted by the search facility.
At the moment if you enter text which is in the description then this text is highlighted (turned red) when you go to the product page, however I would like it to highlight the associated product reference instead.
Does anyone know how I might go about doing this?

I would like to do it primarily as some of my searchable fields are not displayed on my pages, resulting in nothing being higlighted by the search engine.

I think I will use a drop down menu instead as suggested in this thread
