cant get out of test mode...

    hi all..

being fairly new to actinic, i have set up a site on a server, and then halfway through decided to switch to test mode.

Anyway,i've since deleted all files on the server on order to start again with a fresh site... i've uploaded again in 'production' mode, yet when i go to the worldpay screen i still get a mesg saying im in test mode... anyone know why?

Also, i've decided to use the shop in full production mode and instead use a worldpay test account until i'm up and running..i dont know if this is the right thing to do or not but hey...

PS the very (incomplete) site is at www.snb.softdiag.co.uk

Actinic test mode and worldpay test mode are independent of each other.

actinic test mode allows you to upload your site into a subfolder called actest so you don't upset the live site (for people who are already live)

Worldpay keep you in test mode until you are ready to take live payments. They will scrutinise your site to ensure it complies to their guidelines before allowing you to take live payments.

Your site must be totaly finished before approaching WP to go live

      hmmmm

what i've done is asked worldpay to set up a test account for me.. i've not officially opened an account with them (ie i havent signed up to anything). They've given me an installation ID etc and admin access to the account. this was purely to test the actinic digital download. Once i was happy with it i was going to upgrade to a full account.

So, do i now need to run actinic in production mode or test mode? Bearing in mind that worldpay have said that a 'test account' is one that works in the same way as a full account yet has no orders processed.

Theres very little documentation on this anywhere that i can find.. if anyone has any i'd be grateful.

I recommend you put Actinic into Test Mode until you are ready to go live.

As soon as you are ready to process live transactions, change Actinic to 'Production Mode' and contact WorldPay and ask them to start doing live transactions.

I can't seem to get from Test Mode to Production mode. The Credit Card serve is in production mode, but when I change Web - Production mode and upload site, I eventualy get a message - ' do you want the brocure page to be renamed /test/index.html', and at the end of the upload, the web address www.souvenirfashion.com says 'forbidden' like there's nothing there, and acatolog/test still has the test site.

I have compacted, deleted, backed up and closed Actinic down and reopened.

Any other buttons to press? or is there something at the host site I have to do?

Are you still confusing PSP test mode (where you check the functionality of the payment collection processing) and PSP production (where real oney is taken from real bank accounts) with Actinic test mode (where the public do not see the site and cannot order) and Actinic production mode (where the site is published and accessable to Joe Public to buy all he wants)?

After clicking Web | Switch to Production mode - have you checked the settings in Advanced | Network Setup and removed the test folder from the paths?

Thank you so much for that advice. Its exactly what was missing. The site is now 'live'. I thought when you moved from test to production the paths automatically reverted as well. There were 4 paths in Network - Setup that still had /test/acatolog attached.

Do I have to do this everytime I go from production to test and back? also - I assume I go back into test mode to do template style changes, but to update the catalogue with new items I would just upload them, or is it best to test them in test mode first?

I have a text file containing my production Network Settings (Advanced | Network Setup - click the Export button), and one for my test settings. When I change mode, I import the relevant file. (same place Import button)

I don't test new products - just add and upload. I also don't use test for minor template changes - I only test major changes to the website. (but I do make a snapshot before making any changes - so if it goes wrong I can bring in the snapshot and be back to normal very quickly).
