We'd a customer moa...opps, commenting that he had to `confirm` each item after adding to the shopping cart then wait for the page to return to the initial shopping page. We've had a bit of a problem in the last few months with Clara so maybe this process does take longer than it should. I thought this would be the best setting for us but I thought I'd ask forum users opinions on this...

Opinions on best settings for `adding to cart?

You can cut out the confirmation bit, i.e. click the buy button, then get the confirmation page where they have to click, which then bounces them on, by putting the qty option on the product page, which is done at the section containing the products.
Have a play with the Shopping Mode to see which suits you and your customers best.

I would also like to avoid the confirmation page showing after each "add to cart" clicked, but I'm not sure I understand the fix for this one.
You seem to be saying that including a quantity option for each product, will omit the confirmation page? My site isn't live yet so I'm not able to test fully, but I've been to other sites that have quantity options showing for the products. At these sites, confirmation pages shows between "add to cart" clicks.
Are there any other settings that need to be adjusted? I understand that quantities can be adjusted on the "view basket" stage or at "checkout" (I may be wrong) If this is so, then the confirmation page seems to be a bit superfluous.
Would very much appreciate some clarification on this fix.
Many thanks

You will either get a bounce page, i.e. click add to cart and a bounce page comes up which then takes you back to the page where the add to cart button was clicked, or if the setting is for qty on conf page etc, then instead of it bouncing straight on, it comes up with the confirmation page.

To demonstrate this:
http://www.4suredomain04.co.uk/acata...are_soaps.html uses a confirmation page:
http://www.4suredomain01.co.uk/acata..._Products.html shows the cart and automatically bounces on at the time interval set within the Actinic bounce page settings.
Hope that explains this a bit better.

Thanks for the example sites. This makes the options easier to understand, although I'm really hoping for a third solution.
If I opt for "quantity" on page and have a bounce page setting of zero, will that prevent the cart from showing each time someone adds to the cart? Or will customers get a flash of a page they can't read before the original page reloads?
Ideally I'd like for customers to view their cart by choice and at checkout rather than everytime they make a selection. Otherwise it's a bit like being followed around a Supermarket being asked "are you sure you want that tin of beans?", "are you sure you want that pork pie?
Any hope for this one?
Thanks
Myles

I'm experimenting with the with the options that are being discussed. I've changed to the `Quantity in Shopping Cart` option, but the cart stays on the screen, does not forward to the product page you were at. Think i'd prefer it to go back to the page last visited, without requiring a click.

Funny that. On Friday I adjusted our checkout to the method Chris has explained in his last post just for a few days to see how it goes.
On one of our orders on Saturday the customer has inserted into the `any ways you could improve the site` box, "not so complicated to place order". Why do we bother trying to make it easier eh? lol.
A slight disadvantage with this way is that the Quantity is in red (the must fill in dis box colour), making it possibly a little `loud`. Any way I can adjust this colour, keeping the `Out of Stock` and other `must fill in bits` the same?
