Custom properties

My site will have a section which sells Japanese Koi Carp. These will have a number of custom properties, i.e. variety, breeder, size

There are a limited number of possible values for these custom properties. What would speed up their addition is to be able to assign a custom property from the drop down, as you can now, but then to be offered a drop down for the possible values for that property.

Is there any way that this can be done?

If you are on about automatic population of the value for a custom property from previous entries, then that is not possible as it is in included in the custom property abilities, just plain old entering of values
