No Receipt Email Sent to customer

I have a actinic v6 site 6.1.4 hosted with Fasthosts, the site is now in testing stage, when a customer places an order they do not get receipt email, even though an email is sent out telling me an order is placed.

In Business Settings/Ordering panel "Send Receipt Email To Customer" IS checked.

Also when I download an order and try to send the email order (Order/Email panel) I get an Relay error, I presume this is a setting with fasthosts?

    Any ideas?

    Regards
    Peter.

What SMTP server address are you using within Advanced | Network Setup?

Have you tried the term 'localhost' without the quotes to see if that works with your host, otherwise a search for Normans sendmail patch to use Auth SMTP might be an option.

HI there, thanks for the rely, sorry it's late getting back to you, I have been trying since Friday to upload the changes to Fasthost, the email address I had was mail.companyname.co.uk, I have now changed it to localhost and did a test on the network settings and got a reply, BUT still cannot upload the site to test it, I called Fasthosts over the weekend they blamed NTL ("my isp"). NTL said they had no "known server problems".

I tried again this morning at 7.00am but still no avail, so I'll try again this evening.

      Regards

      Peter.

You were able to upload before to the site right, so have you changed anything in your settings since the last time you uploaded?

The only thing have I changed is the email address. When uploading, actinic gets to the 4th option "creating directory structure" then seems to slow down and I get a timeout error.

          Regards

What operating system are you using? If it's XP, have you downloaded and installed any updates recently. Some people are finding it is resetting the permissions on their firewalls and security software. Try disbling temporarily any firewalls etc. you have installed and see if that helps - don't forget to restart them!

              thanks

              Hi Guys
Thanks for all the replies, got home last night, clicked update and everything worked ok.

After making a test purchase, and changing the email address to localhost, I did get a sales receipt.

              Thanks again.

              Peter.
