Can you specify the default Shipping Method?

We have a number of shipping methods defined. Actinic seems to always default to the cheapest method and shows that as selected in Checkout. In normal circumstances this would be just what is required.

Unfortunately our cheapest shipping method is "Pickup" which is free but is only practical for customers who are located close to the office. For nearly all customers, the cheapest courrier service is appropriate. Is there anyway to tell Actinic to default to a method other than cheapest?

The granularity of a zone (i.e. a country) is too big for our purposes.

Does the cheapest still display 1st if you re-order the classes in the shipping band?

It seems that the order in which the methods are specified has no impact on the display order. I don't find this so surprising as there is quite a bit of processing going on to decide which method is even available for a particular purchase.

You could create two 'States/Provinces' within the United Kingdom called something like 'Close enough to pick-up' and 'Not close enough to pick-up'. Other than that, I do not have any great suggestions.

This feature (being able to specify a default shipping charge) is a regular one on our wish list, and we are investigating some possibilities for the next major release.
