We sell name plaques with stick on wooden letters. Is there a way of adding a form field to a product to capture free text? Currently we've tried adding a product for each letter but it's a bit clumsy.
In your Product dialogue (click Advanced if you see such a button) / Prompts - put some text (like "Text for plaque") into Other Info and your product will now have a text field where the customer can type in a line of info.
If you want this to be a box rather than a line (so several lines can be entered freeform), then see the advanced guide for help. Search for "textarea".
If you'd rather have several lines with limits on their length, some optional, etc, then there's a (complex) patch to do this on www.drillpine.biz/actinicstuff/
This is useful but is there a way to go further and capture a batch of different fields - e.g. date of birth, occupation and other details that might be required when, for example, buying membership to an organisation?
I've done an extension to Actinic that allows for many such fields to be captured. You have quite a lot of control over their size and placement, some can be made optional and some mandatory. Details on www.drillpine.biz/actinicstuff/
Please note that due to me getting bombarded with support requests I'm now making these "DonationWare".
OK Norman thanks. I'm just evaluating the product at the moment so this is a point against. If we choose to purchase then we may well pursue.
I would expect this to be a fairly common requirement so I'm a little surprised. Perhaps it may be possible to link in (and capture data from) a form that we build ourselves?
