Affiliates for Actinic

Any recomendations for an affiliate system that works with Actinic 7?

Looking into it, don't really know much about the issues involved (other than your average Amazon affiliate might know from his end).

Hi,
Is www.allaffiliatepro.co.uk the best option for affiliate software with Actinic? I have had a few enquiries this week if I will be running an affiliate scheme, at first I thought it would be too difficult but after searching the forum this seems to be the answer. Has anyone got it running successfully for their store? Any issues?

We use AAP and Lyle helped us with any problems we had in both our initial set-up and when we later migrated our system to another ISP!

We find AAP easy to use and once installed it is relatively easy to maintain. It does far more than we currently need but we have the comfort of knowing if we need to expand our present system we can!

You can choose a hosted solution or a DIY solution. The DIY solution gives you a one off price, the hosted solution gives you a monthly charge. We started off with the DIY solution and did get it set up without too many problems but we changed servers at christmas we moved to the hosted solution, because it seemed to me to be easier to have Lyle looking after the system than mess around setting it up again myself. The charges are pretty low for both cases. I think that Jo has given you some good advice, give Lyle a ring, tell him what your priorities are and see what he suggests.

Actually I haven't launched my affiliate scheme yet, it was ready to go and then I changed my host and so had to set it up from scratch again, it is now up and running, I just need to tweak a couple of bits and it will be ready to go.

By the way, did you see that we have a colour highlight manager in our free plugin library now, you can have your red backgrounds now if you want them.

I'd like to point out that there are other options... namely Ultimate Affiliate - although it's going to require a little more work I think, the pricing appears to be a little better if you are comparing apples to apples...

Ultimate Affiliate is a php/mysql system that can be linked into your Actinic store with seemingly very little effort.

I'm not knocking Allaffiliate, but you all should be aware that other options are available...

Honestly, I took a look at the allafilliate pricing and was:

a. confused at their pricing matrix
b. slightly shocked at some of the pricing I saw.

I would also advise having a quick look at Ultimate Affiliate - they are one of the best solutions across the board - Actinic instructions can be found here:

Groundbreak's Ultimate Affiliate is $200 and no monthly fees - that's just under 100 GBP at current exchange rates - which appears to beat the allaffiliate database host-it-yourself option by about 174 GBP by my reckoning. For $300 US you get the 'unlimited' option - which gives you all their scripts and I believe, the right to use the software on an unlimited number of Actinic sites... anyone interested in going in on the deal?

Of course, if you're not up to creating a MySQL database and editing a couple of php and perl scripts, you could be much better off going with the allaffiliate route.

As Greg says there are lots of affiliate programs available, and you should investigate as many as possible, when I was looking I basically wanted a UK based scheme, with lots of functionality at a reasonable cost.

One correction that I will make though is the pricing, AllAffilatePro costs £29 a year if you want a basic hosted version, or £122 if you want the standard hosted solution. If you want to buy and install the software yourself, if it £89 for a basic solution (single site) or £274 if you want the database version (multiple sites). There is a price calculator at the bottom of the page.

One word of advice I have for the guys at all affiliate is that pricing on anything you want to sell has to be clear and simple. Anything that needs 3 tables of pricing decisions is just too complicated.

Even the simple, basic hosted says:

£29 (£5)*

Nowhere on the page does it say what "(£5)" means (at least not that I can see).

As webyourbusiness says. The pricing matrix is genuinely confusing.
