backup credit card provider?

As mentioned in a few previous posts one at least one of the main service providers are suffering Denial of Service attacks.

Is it possible to have two providers selected at the same time? Ie. could I run 'paypal' as a backup provider?

If so, is there a special paypal 'trader' account or can I just use my regular paypal account?

Yes it is possible which is something which we have provided under our Actinic shared SSL service to quite a few, so using it under an alternate is also possible.

Here is what we sent to customers who are using our Actinic Shared SSL service for backup, obviously our Act Shared SSL is not going to work for you unless you are with us and got specific details, but the explanation on usage is the same if you use say PayPal as your secondary, you just need to signup with an alternate.

    ###############

To utilize both systems within your Actinic requires you to first of all have you Protx option in the payments settings and also the Credit Card option set up under your Actinic Shared SSL settings, which is as per the Actinic Shared SSL settings for your service with us.

Each of the payment options drop downs has what is called a Website description, for which we recommend you change them to the following:

Protx = Secure Online Payment Processing (Protx)
Credit Card = Secure Online Payment Receipt (ASSSL)

Once you have changed those to that descript, ensure that the Protx option is at the top of the list and then followed by ASSSL. You can click on the descriptions and then use the Up Arrow to the right to move them up and down, but Protx first then ASSSL second and click OK.

Then, go into Advanced | Template Manager | Ordering Tab and Order Phase 2 button.

Within this template search for: NETQUOTEDELIGITALDOWNLOADINFORMATION

and directly above it enter the following code/text:

If you have difficulties using our primary Secure Online Payment,
Processing (Protx), then please select our alternate provider of
Secure Online Payment Receipt (ASSSL) from the dropdown selection.
Thank you.

Click the x to close the template and accept it to overwrite the original.

Update the site and then conduct a test order to check that Protx is listed first with the message explaining what to do if the online OCCP is not working, and check that this functions as you require.

    #############

Obviously amend as you see fit for the backup solution you will be using.

On Surf-wax we use Worldpay, but since they have been suffering DOS attacks we added Paypal as an option too. Currently we have a 85/15% split.

Create yourself a paypal account, to appear more kosher, go for a business account. Get it verified and off you go.
