What is the best way to get a good listing on search engines?

Pretty much exactly what I said above really, our store has been up a few months now and I'd like it to be showing more positive results on search engines, google picks it up however, its a few pages back.

Any help would be welcome

A good starting point would be to read the relevant posts in the 'ecommerce business issues' section. That would also be a good place to post a question like this as:

a) this isn't really specific to V7 support.

b) it stands a better chance of being read by some of our earch engine experts such as OldWelshGuy.
