Does Actinic use the sendmail service on the host it is running on?

It's just that intermittantly we get problems were the customer does not receive acknowledgements of their orders, and was wondering whether it is an issue with the hosting company and their SMTP service.

Hi,

Actinic uses SMTP rather than Send-Mail as standard, however, Norman Rouxel has provided a patch to allow Actinic to work with Send-Mail. See the last option on the page here.

To find out what the problem is you could look at the error log on your site. You will find it at http://yourdomain/acatalog/error.err. The latest errors added will be at the bottom of the log. This will tell you if there are any SMTP errors and what they are. You can then contact your host to rectify the issue.
