use of discount vouchers

Hi, the company that i'm working for is wanting to explore the possibilities of vouchers that can be used at our website
The vouchers ideally would be used by entering a promotional code when purchasing online.

A few promotions we had in mind were along the lines of:

Save 10% on any purchase over £500 (promotional code:v1)

1/2 price dishwasher when you spend £3000 or more on a kitchen (promotional code v2)

Is this idea a viable one using Actinic? any comments appreciated

V7 Business provides this feature now, but not in Catalog v7.

The Discount Coupon feature was a new feature of v7 Business and above, so afraid it is not in v6 - sorry

what about with a bit of "mucking about" know-how or a plugin?

The ability to include discounts based on coupons is such that I do not think it would have been possible to create such a plug-in or amendment to the system easily, and thus it was 'as far as I am aware' ever developed by any third party.

Now that it is included as part of the Business v7 feature set, then very very unlikely that anyone is going to build there own plug-in (again if at all possible).
