    Actinic/Virtual PC on Mac OSX

Anyone here running Actinic V7 on Virtual PC for Mac OSX?
I've ordered virtual pc v7 and am wondering if I can use my main Mac work machine to run Actinic instead of firing up my rather dodgy windows laptop every time I need to run Actinic.

I did try it myself, and in the end, I too got my dodgy bill gates out of the cupboard. I just had problems and I wanted to eliminate virtual pc from the equation, but 'in theory' it should work:

      Not working!

I have had Virtual PC 7 for the Mac on order with Amazon for 2 months, it finally turned up today.
Installed it, configured Windows XP Home edition, installed Actinic V 7.02, Imported Site Snapshot from working site, made a change to a price and clicked update. It realised it needed to refresh the base files and proceeded to try and upload the first cgi script, after a few seconds I get the error prompt ftp timeout retry or cancel, clicking retry just initiates another one!
Why is that Actinic is such a pain when it comes to uploading to a web server!
Internet Explorer is working fine both browsing the web and using in the FTP protocol yet Actinic cannot send one single file to the server via FTP.
I have the windows firewall turned off and have tried ticking the use passive ftp transfers without success.
Does anyone have Actinic successfully running on XP on OSX?
I would really like to get this working as it was the main reason I purchased Virtual PC 7!

      Thanks

I've been using Catalog 6 on my PowerBook using VPC6 for over a year, and upgraded to VPC7 a month ago.

Like Tripwire, I find that Catalog frequently errors on FTP-ing, and suggest the following "bodges":
        1) Use Internet Explorer (or indeed Safari) & browse. Don't quit the browser and launch Catalog. For some reason this helps. This must be to do with the way VPC manages your connection share.

        2) If it continues to error, quit Catalog & relaunch it. Not very technical, but it works for me!

Tripwire: are you using a broadband modem, ethernet/airport or are you on dialup?

Thanks for the bodges BigDave but they didn't help unfortunately
It just hangs on sending the first cgi script (see attached screengrab) weird thing is it will allow me to check for orders ok!! (see attached).

I'm on a wired Netgear 4 port Broadband router with built in firewall.

Is there any way of making Windows run faster it is painfully slow?

Sorry to hear that my bodges didn't work. Right now I can't stop (cos like you I'm freelance & am with client all day), but will check back here tonight & see if you've gotten anywhere.

Meanwhile, if you've got ten mins to spare check out a useful Mac forum that has a huuuge thread on VPC & turning off the features you don't need. Err, and apologies to admins on THIS forum if this is off-topic)
