Digital Download - FREE DELIVERY/SHIPPING

Hello,

I am trying to set up a product (Membership) as a digital download in order to bypass shipping/handling charges.

I have managed to exempt the dd from tax, but can't seem to bypass the order process and thus shipping is calculated and added in checkout. The Actinic whitepaper on this wasn't very helpful.

How do I avoid shipping on a digital download?

Hi

You need to go to the 'Ordering' tab of 'Business Settings' and select 'Exempt Digital Download Products From Shipping'.

This automatically exempts all your digitally downloadable products from incurring a shipping charge. It works when shipping is based on either 'Weight' or 'Quantity'.

Thanks for the response, but I'm either going mad... or that option doesn't exist. It's a nice option, I want it to exist - I do. However, see screenshot...



I'm using Quantity for shipping calculation.

What version are you using?

I am using by Weight - it may be worth changing to see what happens.

I'm using v7.01 - wanted to avoid the "upgrade" and its minor niggles. Maybe this is the key, because I switched to weight calculations and there was still no option.

as a kludge workaround, if you are using weight, make the product 0.001 lb or kg, and ensure that you have an entry for say... 0.010 at $0.00 - ie, an entry just below the lowest weight of your physical products.

Sure, I have read that elsewhere but was trying to avoid changing all products so that they have a weight. That said, is their a default weight, so I wouldn't have to change them all, just specify DD products with one.

to be honest, the easiest way to work around many shipping problems is to assign weights - fictitious or otherwise...
