/tmp/ the lock file?

Can some one explain this error message:

'An error occurred while creating the order number lock file (/tmp/ActinicCatalogjvpxvyH4DwuT.lock). The error was Permission denied. Catalog can not create a unique order number and can not continue. Please contact us directly with your order. '

Where is the /tmp/ folder. My ISP did a search and he couldn't find it.

This is the last hurdle to getting our shop working again and would love some support / answers for this.

I seem to remember that this is something that just happened with v3, and I'm afraid that I'm very hazy on that.

From memory, the 'tmp' is a system setting on your server that might point to a folder called 'temp' or something like that. Ask your web host to try searching the entire PC for *.lock files and when you find the file referenced in your email, delete it.

I've checked the lyris archives and this is a problem that occured in V3 and early V4 catalogs, as Chris says the only way to fix it is for your ISP to find that lock file and delete it.
