question about linking from other sites

Hi Just a quick question if someone can answer.

we have placed links on external websites to link into specific products in our shop. at first we did not add &BASEURL=........ into the link and when clicked on the link on the website, it through up an error saying file not found as it was looking for the link on the external websites.

Its now working now that we have added the BASEURL part in there but just wanted to know why it does this?

ok thought we had resolved the problem yesterday however we are having problems with the pages linking up correctly.

if we type in the link,

http://www.cordee.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000010.pl?PRODREF=CWG002&NOLOGIN=1&BASEURL=http://www.cordee.co.uk/acatalog/

it jumps down to the correct product. however we have the same link on the following page

http://www.batonwicks.net/cgi-bin/ba....pl?1099235037

and it doesn't always work.

now the interesting bit, if we visit the batonwicks site first, and click the link, it searches for the book on their server and throws up a file not found error and then if you type the link in manually, it still throws up the error. However, if you then delete the temp internet files, type the link in first, it finds the correct book and then if i click on the link on the batonwicks website, it finds the book!

Just checked your site and link, and it works fine. I don't get the error message. I am using Internet Explorer 6.0.2.8.

It finds the book without any issue.

It worked fro me too, although I seem to remember that the link on the other sites page didn't have the baseurl bit so you're not comparing like with like.
