    Help! What is "acatalog/terms"?

    Hi all

I have an online business selling wine, and my site is hosted on Clara.net. With the hosting comes a stats package, which I like to track daily, to see how visits are coming along.

I have often noted a URL called acatalog/terms, appearing quite high in the "league table" of pages visited. For a while I thoght it may refer to the "Terms and Conditions" page, but on clicking the link, it takes me to a "page cannot be found" screen.

Just recently, I have been doing an awful lot of work in Actinic, with a big increase in my range of products. I have also noticed an increase in the number of "visits" to this spurious (i.e. inexplicable) page.....

For this month, the offending URL appears at no.4 on the list of entry pages, no.1 on the list of exit pages, and no.2 on the list of a total of 314 URL's. I have to say, I'm a little concerned as to what this might be. Is it affecting my visitors, or is it something to do with me making regular uploads?

I have a friend who also uses the Actinic/Clara.net combination, and this type of URL does not appear on his stats (at least not in the top listings).

Can anyone please help, or explain? I'm starting to get paranoid! Is it costing me sales?!

    Help!!

I wonder if it's becuase you have this image name:

It could be that your stats package excludes anything after the '&' as that would typically be passing a parameter.

Thanks for replying. I think I understand what you mean. When you say "parameter", do you mean that the "&" is a no-no for the file name of the image. I'll change it just in case, along with it's mouse-over brother.

Nonetheless, it seems strange that the URL figures so highly in the ratings on the stats. Do you think that it might be the crawlers getting confused by it and searching for it too often?

Anyway, are you saying there is nothing to worry about, in particular? I do get paranoid sometimes, especially if business gets a bit slow. The wine biz is very competitive and I've been around less than a year - so any problem with my site, that may deter customers, is always a worry

      Cheers
