    Hi,

If you do not 'auto-generate' your order numbers they then display in the e-mails (View | Business Settings | Options). When I tried this I got:

Shopping Cart (Prices in British Pounds)
    REF DESCRIPTION QUANTITY PRICE COST
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    5 Calculator 1 £8.51 £8.51
    ==========================================================
    Subtotal: £8.51
    Shipping (Second Class Post): £0.71
    VAT: £1.61
    Total: £10.83

      jumping in on this thread...

but I'm not sure that is correct!
I have specific product codes for my stock, rather than auto-generated ones, and they never display in the customer email.
I agree that it would be good if they did though.
I might have mis-understood you but you implied that if you do NOT auto-generate, they they DO display, but they don't.
Unless I got the wrong end of the stick!
I would have thought it was common sense to be able to display the product reference on the customer email ( I receive a copy of customer email so it would be helpful for me on occasion)

You might have to untick the 'hide product ref in catalog' bit for them to show.

          thanks, Mike
Will try that and let you know
Trouble is, mine are very long and they disrupt the view of the catalogue!
Will give it a go though, thanks

If you don't want the codes to show in your catalog, but need to untick the 'hide' box, then you can always comment out the relevant bit of the template that displays them.
