    Sale / Discount Sections?

I am wondering how I can add new pages to my Actinic Catalog site which are list a subset of Catalog products which are now on sale.

I dont want to hard-code the new pages (due to stock monitoring), and I do not want duplicate products in my catalog in order to create the new sections.

Any ideas how I could go about this?

    Thx in advance :-)

I think you may have to relax your requirements and use duplicates. That's what they're for.

      Hi Norman

If i use duplicates then, am I right in thinking it will break stock monitoring?

I am about to attempt to change the configuration of my products so that it functions like the snowlines website (you replied to one of my posts "Stock - Can it relate to Product Attributes? ) - will duplicate products work ok if I convert to this model?

      Cheers

Could you not just set a 'sale' section and within this sale section have fragments with links to the products that are on sale - assuming there aren't too many products on sale

That way you wouldn't have to create duplicate products and fragments could be added / deleted as required. The reduced [sale] prices could be handled via discounts perhaps ??

          Hi Stuart,

I don't know much about duplicates and stock monitoring. I hope someone else can help there.

As to the Snowlines way: Snowlines has a high-street shop as well as online sales so stock monitoring by Actinic alone wouldn't tell the true picture.

We deal with stock outside of Actinic. It's the program that builds the colour / size matrix import file that includes / omits the Add button depending on whether that particular combination is in stock.

The site is updated every day in the evening (after the shop sales have updated the underlying EPOS database) so the website stock reflects what was in-store at that time.

Back to that earlier post. What I was describing was a way to show the stock situation with the product info. This way the customer knows immediately what colour / sizes are available.

Actinic allows you to use a push button table (for up to 2 attributes) where the individual buttons will be omitted if that permutation is out of stock. That might be worth investigating.
