    Search Problems

We have a problem with our site when a customer uses the 'Search' facility.

When a search is made the results page does not have the header nor do the navigation buttons appear. The program seems to be searching in:

    http://www.tractor-manuals.com//acatalog/acatalog

    instead of
    http://www.tractor-manuals.com//actalog

When you then proceed to a page for a chosen item no images appear as again the program is trying to find them in a different directory.

Also the Items and value of basket do not work from search

Can anyone come up with a solution.

    Our website is www.tractor-manuals.com

    Thanks
    Andrew

Post your network settings (hide all passwords). Go to Advanced / Network Setup / Export and send these to a text file.

what does that do to resolve the problem?

If the scripts are referencing the wrong destination for images, add to cart, etc then it's likely that the network settings are wrong somewhere.

Showing us the settings makes it a 100 times easier to see if there's a problem there or not.

Hi Mike - Thanks for that. Sorry to be simple but how do I post the settings

The easiest way is to export the settings. Go to Advanced / Network Setup / Export and send these to a text file.

Then just copy and paste the contents of the text file into the forum.

PS. Be sure to remove the ftp username and password from the content.

                Search problems

We carried out a test from Network setting and the results came up as follows:

                Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
                server: passed
                connection: passed
                sockets: passed
                communications: passed
                authorisation: passed
                message: -

Failed to transfer a test file to the acatalog directory. The system cannot find the file specified.

                Hope this helps.

                Thanks again

                  This bit doesn't look right:

                  FTPPATHFROMCGITOCATALOG /public_html/acatalog/

Try leaving it blank and see if the test passes.

                    Hi Mike

Thanks for taking a look at that. We tried leaving that blank but when we tested all we got was the following message:

Unable to move to the acatalog directory "/home/andrew/public_html/" on the FTP server possibly due to a mistake in the Path from CGI-BIN to acatalog Directory field.
The specified directory does not exist or you do not have access to the directory.

Hmm. A more normal setting for that would be:

                      PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../acatalog/

(assuming that your cgi-bin and acatalog folder are both in the public_html directory)

There's definitely a problem with your settings as the catalog appears to be in //acatalog/ instead of /acatalog/

                        Search Problems

The cgi-bin and public_html are in the same directory (/.)

The acatalog folder is in the public_html directory.

                        Does that make sense?

                          Try

                          PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../public_html/acatalog/

                              Search Problems

I notice that our problem extends not only to search but from Checkout as well.

From Checkout we loose the header and the navigation buttons disappear

If anyone has had a silimlar problem would appreciate hearing from them as nothing I have tried seems to work.

Anyone wishing to take a look our site is www.tractor-manuals.com.

                              Thanks
