    Newbie here - 1st question - mailforms

    Hi

Brand new to Actinic, website development and this forum.

I had a developer create a site for me with a subscribe to newsletter option. Unforturnatley when entering an email address in the box the only tjhing that appears to happen is the browser clicks over to my .co.uk address followed by /cgi-bin/mail.cgi. The website is hosted on my .com address.

I have attempted to change the reference in all the html files in the site1 directory that have naything to do with "index" in them to reference .com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi, but even though I have done this and uploaded the new pages I still get the same problem and checking the source still shows the .co.uk/cgi-bin/mail.cgi in the html.

My developer has so far failed to respond to various attempts to seek further information on how to resolve this.

    Please can anyone help me?

    Regards

Your brochure and catalog pages are based on two primary templates. These are the only things that need fixed to replace the code throughout your site.

Look at (in Site1) Act_BrochurePrimary.html and Act_Primary.html and you should find your mail form code there. Look for <form action="http://www.performancemotorcare.co.uk/cgi-bin/mail.cgi" method=post>

However, you don't appear to have a mail.cgi in http://www.performancemotorcare.com/cgi-bin

      Many thanks.

Have changed the html code from .co.uk to .com and sure enough as you say it now fails to locate a mail.cgi.

Would appear my developer failed to complete the job as requested.

Is this something I could easily remedy or is it a complex issue to resolve?

      Regards

if there is no mail.cgi you will have to get the developer to complete the job for you, or get someone else to do it.

Its an easy job for someone who knows cgi and scripts, not so easy for you if you don't

Or Jan at MoleEnd may have a solution for you using Group Mail - you'll have to wait whilst her website reappears though
