order a brochure online

i have used 2 different stratergies for ordering brochures online

Method 1) simple asp form script, captures address & sends email to merchant

Method 2) have the brochure as a FREE product in actinic catalog, for people to order through the shopping cart

the 2 sites sell similar products & get similar amounts of traffic

but method 1 produces 10 times the number of brochure rquests to method 2

method 2 means that the customer details are captured & the order for a brochure can be processed through order processing BUT customers don't like going through the actinic hoop to order a brochure.

is there a way that i can use the actinic system to present a single form to the user to order a brochure & have the data appear as an order through Actinic ?

The minimum number of steps you could have is:

1) Have shopping mode sent to 'Quantity in Shopping Cart'. This means it is addd to cart straight away and they are presented with a 'Checkout Now' button.

2) Have simple tax and simple shipping to eliminate the first 'location-selection' page of the checkout.

Then, as there is no payment details, customer will just have to enter their details, click Next to confirm details and then click Next to go to the receipt.

There is no way to generate a single form-type thing for ordering, but then again that is not what Actinic has been designed for.

these settings are for the whole site, i do not want to change these settings just for the brochure product, if all the other products have to work the same way.

i understand that doing this is not actinic's purpose

I have no shipping on a site but it still asks for these details.. I called support to see if they have anything that can stop shipping questions being asked.

Do you know of a way to do this. The site I have is just gathering enquies with no sales.

Just untick 'Shipping Charges Made' in 'Business Settings | Shipping and Handling', and also use Simple Tax.

You also have to uncheck the include box by prompt 0, 19 (If you want to ship the purchase to an address other than the invoice address, check this box) to get rid of that box. It is in 'design text/web site (cont)/Invoice address'
