    Hi Andy

I dont have a list to hand, but as fair as I am aware there only 2 credit cards types that use a start date and an issue number, they are Switch (which also includes Solo) and Maestro.

All the others (visa, mastercard, american express etc...) dont require these, having said that, it would be best checking this with a bank to see if there are any other credit cards out there that require these fields.

    Hoep that helps

Think it was Jan that posted this a while ago, but here's the list I use to cover all possible eventualities...

      Mastercard - CVV2
      VISA - CVV2
Switch (with Issue Number) - Issue, CVV2
Switch (with Valid From) - CVV2, Start Date
      Delta - CVV2
      Solo - Issue, CVV2
Maestro (with Issue) - Issue, CVV2
Maestro (with Valid From) - CVV2, Start Date

That's exactly what I have setup for ours... any customer with an ounce of sense should be able to sort emselves out from that lot.

Side note: Is there any way to make the CVV2 code REQUIRED, so they can't put an order thru without providing it when using Shared SSL?? ALtho the checkout page says "required fields are highlighted" and last 3 digits on signature strip is also highlighted, it still lets em thru. Every payment method has it ticked, but we get LOADS of orders where the customer has missed it out.
      Cheers!

        Hi there

Whats the address of your website? On a default website, if your are using the CVV2 numbers for credit cards, then they are a required field.

Don't bother testing - I just have - works fine and won't allow orders thru without it.... which means there's summat else goin on...

If using a split system.... design on one PC and processing on another (both running full copies of catalog but one set to order processing only and other set to design etc) do both setups have to have payment methods configured the same?? Would've thought as order processing machine never does any uploading it wouldn't matter.... or is it a case of if CVV2 isn't ticked on the order processing machine then it nukes the CVV2 code out of the order as it comes in?

(Hypothetical question there tho: have now set both machines to same so if all orders now come thru with CVV codes then that obviously was the cause.... sorry!)

But to explain a bit how our system works, basically, 2x PCs each running a copy of catalog. One does order processing and network setup, other doing maintenance and design. On the design PC, the address, catalog section1, landlord adjustment, order, orderdetail, ordermail, ordertracking, paymenthistory, person & product tables are all linked to those in the database on the processing machine, and all the other tables are vice versa.... altho currently am working on upsizing the lot onto a MySQL server to see if it'd work that way...

But anyways, drifting Off-Topic now, and that's cause for a new thread... sorry for hijacking!
          Cheers!

            have you gone to the
            View>>Business settings>>payment and security

            configure methods

and clicked the CVV box for each card???

if you don't select the required fields, then they dont get sent through even if the customer entered them!!
