There might be something in the registry that tells it there's a previous version existing. I'm not sure what the answer would be other than deleting any reference to Actinic in the registry but I personally always have a dislike with editing the registry unless I know what I'm doing.

        Paul,

After all your problems you'd be much better finding another computer to install Actinic on.

That way you could determine in stages if the fault is on your old system or not.

As to the error, do you have a valid Site1 on the system?

If you have only one machine available it might be best to rename your dodgy Site1 to something else and then re-install.

i have a copy of actinic and the folders on my laptop so i will transfer the whole lot over to replace the E Commerce Actinic V6 folder and then see what happens.

Is my site backup with in the actinic main folder or is that saved elswhere.

This is a nightmare if i cannot get any files or folders back, all beacuse of a surge in my external hard drive.

I removed my previous version of actinic hopeing to snapshot, however not sure if it should delete site and site1 should it?

As is say may buy version 7 of Catalogue but dont want to waste my money if when i import the snapshot i have all the problems again!

A snapshot should contain everything but may not be possible to make or reliable to import after all your problems

So I'd make a full copy of Site1 as well.

Also make sure you backup your images if they're not in Site 1. The only info outside Site1 that's essential is the text in Housekeeping / Security. Just copy and paste this into a textfile sand save it along with Site1.

I would NOT recommend copying all of Actinic (program, etc) between systems. This is a very bad idea. Only install Actinic. And then replace the Site1 (rename the old one to Site1Old for example) with your backup copy.

Ok if i have problems i will do as you say and just import the site folder from the laptop.

I am site refreshing at present so fingers crossed this time it will be ok.

I think the reason i cannot print out the orders is because some of my images are located on the external hard drive (which does not now work so cannot retreive images or any folders) and it does not recognise the product, if i remember had that problem before and the image thing was the problem.

Thanks for your time on this, like many others actinic is my business and when it goes wrong panic sets in quick.

Lets see. You have an external drive that no longer works. This contains your images. Actinic refers to these images in lots of places.

If you have a backup of these images then you can copy them to a folder on your usual system and then use the Map Network Drive in Windows Explorer to make that folder look like the drive letter of the dead drive. If the images were in sub-folders on the dead drive then just create the same structure within your shared folder.

I tested this on XP and it seems to work just fine.

If you didn't back-up these images then you can download them from your live site. Either via Internet Explorer or an FTP program.

It might be a good idea to FTP your entire site to a backup copy just in case your Actinic gets any more corrupted and that's your only source of product descriptions and prices.
