Credit Card Start Date - Shown but not required?

Hi

Ive just noticed a small problem with our site. At present the Credit Card Start Date fields are not shown. Just had trying to process an order via Switch and were being asked for a start date. Having looked at our site i noticed we were not showing the start date fields - however when i turn them on they are set to required.

Is there a way to have them available but not required? Or is it only certain types of cards that have them?

It is only certain cards that require the start date, see this community thread for more info.

Some switch cards require a start date, and some dont, and by default it is set up in Actinic in Views | Business settings |Payment and security so there are 2 switch card options, 'Switch' and 'Switch With No Issue Number', so customers have the choice of which one they use.
