    Problems with html being overwritten

    When I have finished choosing a theme and editing the colors etc. in Actinic I open the .html and .css files in Dreamweaver to edit them. If I go back into Actinic again it seems to overwrite any changes I make in Dreamweaver and my work is lost.

    Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Make sure you are editing the files in your site1 dir and not in the template dir.

      And make sure it's the templates you're editing and not the resulting HTML files. Actinic uses templates for the design and generates the HTML pages from them.

        Cheers guys

        I can see that the "ACT" notepad files are controlling the layout of all the pages and generating the html, but what about the css? I'm not sure where to edit that other than in Dreamweaver - which again seems to revert back to its default if I make changes in Actinic.

          The CSS is in actinic.css in Site1. That's the one to edit.

            I've edited the actinic.css file through Dreamweaver but if I go back into Actinic (v.7) and make more changes the .css defaults back to the original file and the changes are lost

              When you say 'changes' in Actinic are you talking about changing themes / colour sets etc?

                Even without making changes in Actinic and just hitting the Preview Catalog button

                  All I can say then is that it sounds like you can't be saving the changes to the actinic.css file in the site1 (or whatever you've named it) folder.

                  Try doing your changes in dreamweaver and the looking at actinic.css in site1 with notepad. If you can't see the changes then they aren't being saved to the right place.

                    example:

                    font-family:Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
                    }

                    is changed to

                    font-family:Arial;
                    }

                    I've tried that in notepad. If I save the .css and then use Actinic to preview the site in my browser then the file will be overwritten and when re-opened it has reverted to:

                    font-family:Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
                    }

                      Something isn't right but I can't think what the problem is. If you've checked that your changes are being saved to the right directory and filename, and that after pre-viewing in Actinic they've been changed back again, then I can only suggest you log a support call with actinic.

                        actinic.css

                        If I try to add any new styles to actinic.css, when I save the file and try to preview I lose all new styles.

                        Can someone please advise?

                        Thanks

                          Hi Tim,

                          Please could you add a bit more information, like what new style did you add and where did you apply the new style to, so we can reproduce it.

                          Kind Regards
