    VAT exemption prompt

I have recently enabled advanced shipping on my site and I want to allow EU customers to be exempt from VAT if they supply a VAT number.
However what I write in the VAT exemption prompt is not what appears on the actual site.

The actual site text seems to be stuck on a message saying:

"You must be outside of the European Union to be exempt from Tax"

Does anyone know how I can change this message in Actinic??

    Hi there

To find this message, simply go to "View | Business Settings | Tax". Make sure "Advance" is selected, and you should see under "Tax Levied in..", the EU prompt.

    Kind Regards

Yes, this is what I thought but the text I have entered into the EU prompt is different to the text displayed on the site

On our site the message says:
"You must be outside of the European Union to be exempt from Tax"

In actinic I have changed the prompt to say:
"Please check the box for VAT exemption."

(I have updated the site since changing the message)

        Hi Mike

Please could you give us a website url to check this information? It might be that actinic is not registering that you have made a text change. What i would suggest would be to create a dummy product, then in Actinic, go to "Web | Refresh Website". Check to see if the tax text is there, then delete the test product and simply update the site.

        Please try this

I have added a few products since changing this text so that would have the same effect I think.
I tried a site refresh last night but it didn't make any difference.

          The site Url is below.

Strange - I see what you mean. It looks like you have done a bit of customisation to the HTML of this part of the checkout so I'm wondering whether the wrong variable is being used in the HTML. One quick solution to this would be to edit Act_Order01 and replace the likely looking wrong netquotevar with your desired text.

Great looking site by the way!

Thanks Chris, I found the software pretty flexible once I got to grips with it

I've never edited the order template itself before, so it should be OK...

Anyway I tried doing as you suggested then i've refreshed the site again but it still hasn't changed. The order01.html file has updated but the checkout page hasn't changed.

Maybe there is something in the os000001.pl script affecting it?

                I am utterly stumped.

I suggest you register an email support query at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm and they can request your snapshot and take a look at it.

The only other thing I can suggest is changing to simple tax, uploading, and then changing back to Advanced tax.

I figured out what its doing.
The message in the simple tax prompt was what was being displayed for the advanced tax on the site.
So I changed the simple tax message to what I wanted it to say for advanced tax.
